Facts about Aging!

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

“How old are you?” I’m four and a half!” You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key

You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

“How old are you?” “I’m gonna be 16!” You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life .. . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You’ve built u p so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80′s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; “I Was JUST 92.”

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. “I’m 100 and a half!”
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1.
Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay “them.”

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but    by the moments that take our breath away.

Every afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor     and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts. This particular afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain.

The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, ‘OK, dad, I’m ready.’

His Pastor dad asked, ‘Ready for what?’

‘Dad, it’s time we gather our tracts together and go out.’

Dad responds, ‘Son, it’s very cold outside and it’s pouring down rain.’

The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, ‘But Dad, aren’t    people   still going to Hell, even though it’s raining?’

Dad answers, ‘Son, I am not going out in this weather.’

Despondently, the boy asks, ?Dad, can I go? Please?’

His father hesitated for a moment then said, ‘Son, you can go. Here
are the tracts, be careful son.’

‘Thanks Dad!’

And with that, he was off and out into the rain This eleven year old   boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing
everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT.

He stopped on a corner and looked    for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the   sidewalk   to the front door and rang the door bell.

He rang the bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but    still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.

Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something   stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and
knocked   loudly on the door with his fist.

He waited, something holding him    there on the front porch. He rang again and this time the door slowly   opened.

Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady.

She softly asked, ‘What can I do for you, son?’    With radiant eyes   and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, ‘Ma’am, I’m   sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS   REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract   which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE.’

With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave.

She called to him as he departed. ‘Thank you, son! And God Bless You!’

Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the
pulpit. As the service began, he asked, ‘Does anybody have
t estimony   or   want to say anything?’

Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her
feet.

As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from    her   face, ‘No one in this church knows me. I’ve never been here before.

You    see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on   some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world.

Last Sunday,  being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my   heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any   hope   or will to live.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the    stairway   into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in   the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the   rope around my neck.

Standing on that chair, so lonely and    broken-hearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me.

I thought, ‘I’ll wait a minute  ,  and whoever it is will go  away.’

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and  more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again, ‘Who on earth could this be?

Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me.’ I loosened the rope   from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life.

His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to   you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long   been dead, TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with   a cherub-like voice, ‘ Ma’am, I just came to tell you that JESUS   REALLY   DOES LOVE YOU .’ Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in     my hand.

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and   rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel   Tract.

Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn’t be
needing them any more. You see—I am now a Happy Child of the KING.

Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract,   I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God’s little angel who   came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an   eternity in hell.’

There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise And
honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building,     Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little     angel was seated.

He took his son in his arms and sobbed   uncontrollably.

Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this   universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son… Except for One. This Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world.

He received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far above all principality and power and every name that is named.

Blessed are your eyes for reading this message. Don’t let this message   die, read it again and pass it to others. Heaven is for His people!

Remember, God’s message CAN make the difference in the life of someone   close to you. Do not be too shy to share that wonderful message.

Divine Friendship

In Genesis 18:17-33, we read about God sharing His ideas with Abraham. Abraham responds by telling God his thoughts and feelings about the situation. God and Abraham are able to do this because they trusted and respect each other.

First Samuel 20 focuses on the friendship of David and Jonathan. These two men truly cared for each other and had great trust and confidence in one another. David was running for his life from Jonathan’s father, Saul. Jonathan recognized that David was innocent. Because of the true friendship they shared, David survived Saul’s assassination attempts and went on to become one of Israel’s greatest kings.

Real and true friendship involves freedom of choice, accountability, truth, and forgiveness. Peter and Jesus give us this example: Peter, afraid for his life after Jesus is led away from the Garden of Gethsemane, denies knowing Jesus (John 18). As He is led away by His accusers, Jesus casts a look toward Peter that says, “I knew you would deny Me, and I forgive you” (John 21).

Real friendship looks at the heart, not just the “packaging.” Genuine friendship loves for love’s sake, not just for what it can get in return. True friendship is both challenging and exciting. It risks, it overlooks faults, and it loves unconditionally, but it also involves being truthful, even though it may hurt. Genuine friendship, also called “agape” love, comes from the Lord. The Lord Jesus calls us His friends and He laid down His life for us (John 15).

God is always with you (Hebrews 13:5). He calls us to be His hands and feet in a world starving for true friendship

1. Pray

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won’t fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and un-clutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don’t lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can’t do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don’t use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough rest.

18. Eat right.

19 Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems i n the bud. Don’t wait until it’s time to go to bed to try and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good ‘Thank you Jesus.’

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33 Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36 . Every night before bed, think of one thing you’re grateful for that you’ve never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU. ‘If God is for us, who can be against us?’ (Romans 8:31)

5 Finger Prayer

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a “sweet duty.”

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for t h e president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion They need God’s guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger – the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, “The least shall be the greatest among you.” Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

Tough Days

Having a bad day?  This morning you woke up tired and grumpy, and things haven’t gone right from that moment.  You took the dog out and he wouldn’t come back in, so you spent a lot of time coaxing him into the house.  Either you didn’t have time for breakfast, or it burned.  Traffic on the way to work was horrific.  Now you’ve opened up your computer, and it’s giving you one of those messages that you can’t interpret but you know means you can’t do your work until you find out what’s wrong!

We all have days that go awry, ones where we’d like to be able to go back to bed, pull the covers over our heads, and sleep away twenty-four hours!  If only we didn’t have to work on them.

It’s hard to recognize on tough days that this, too, is a day God made and one He made, least in part, to benefit us.  But unless the day is already gone, it’s not beyond repair.  Turn around your less-than-impressive days by giving them back to God.  He knows what you’re going through and wants to help, but He won’t barge in.  Ask Him to take over those awful twenty-four hours, and you will be able to rejoice in them.

                                        PRAYER

Lord, take this day and make of it what You will.  Amen.

Heaven & Hell

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, “Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.”

The Lord led the holy man to two doors.

He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man’s mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.

But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, “You have seen Hell.”

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man’s mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, “I don’t understand.”

It is simple,” said the Lord. “It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.”

When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you.

Its estimated 93% won’t forward this. If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this

How To Stay Young!

1. Try everything twice. On Madam’s tombstone (of Whelan’s and Madam) she
said she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice…loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in
mind if you are one of those grouches.)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening,
whatever. Never let the brain get idle. “An idle mind is the devil’s
workshop.” And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you
have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is
with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes
music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable,
improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.
And if you don’t send this to at least 4 people – who cares…But do share
this with someone .

Lost time can never be found!
